Make Sure You Can Send Your Wine Gift
Before sending a wine gift, or signing up a friend for a wine of the month club, check to make sure the company can send your gift to your recipient's state. The Supreme Court has ruled in favor of opening up interstate commerce, but laws are still slow to change in each state. That's because the court does not tell the states how to change their laws. It is up to each state's legislature to react to the ruling and establish and enforce its own alcohol- related shipping policies. Unfortunately, this will take some time and cause some frustration for those trying to send well-meaning wine gifts across state lines.
